FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Are you registered and insured?
Yes. Solman Davis Ltd is TrustMark registered for electrical work with NAPIT as our scheme provider, so our work is independently assessed against government-endorsed standards. We hold £10 million public liability and £1 million professional indemnity insurance through NAPIT Insurance.
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes, estimates are free. Call us on 01271 379379 or send a message through our contact page and we will arrange a time to look at your job.
How often does a rental property need an EICR?
In England, private landlords must have the electrical installation inspected and tested by a qualified person at least every five years, and give a copy of the report to tenants. We carry out landlord EICRs across the South West and can arrange any remedial work needed.
Should I replace my old fuse box?
Older fuse boxes lack the shock and fire protection of a modern consumer unit with RCD protection. If your home still has rewireable fuses or an older board, we can inspect it and advise whether an upgrade is needed. Full certification is provided on completion.
Which areas do you cover?
We are based near Barnstaple and work throughout North Devon, including Bideford, Braunton, Ilfracombe and South Molton, and across Devon, Somerset and the wider South West.
Do you work on commercial and agricultural sites?
Yes. Alongside domestic work we carry out commercial, industrial and agricultural installations, testing and maintenance for offices, shops, restaurants, farms and more.
